Activate Good has a simple motto; “Activate volunteers to help causes in our local community”. It’s a motto they’ve stood by since 2005, when Activate Good was founded under the name ME3.  ME3 was launched following a two and a half month cross-country road trip during which co-founders Amber Smith and Heather Leah conducted random acts of kindness and volunteered with a variety of causes in over 20 states. During their journey, they came across a common problem across the country; eager and willing volunteers were unable to connect with the many nonprofits that had a great need for volunteers to serve and improve the community. Thus, Activate Good was born.

Activate Good works to connect volunteers in the Raleigh area with nonprofits that work to benefit the local community. By connecting volunteers to non profit programs, the community benefits in several ways; by providing a eager and willing work force, nonprofit programs are able to grow and reach further in their cause. Volunteers are also empowered by directly working to improve their community. Since their founding, Activate Good has has connected over 3,000 volunteers with more than 160 nonprofit partners.

Beyond connecting volunteers with nonprofits, Activate Good also works throughout the year to hold benefits and events for the community. Couture for a Cause, Activate Good’s signature annual fundraiser, is a fashion show that pairs nonprofit partners with area designers to create looks inspired by the missions and goals of the nonprofits. Couture for a Cause takes place every fall, with all proceeds benefiting Activate Good’s mission.
